Its glossy leaves show interesting stains, since when new they have a yellow-gold color which over time changes to dark green with yellow-cream margins. The flowers in the ‘Francis Mason’ Glossy Abelia are plentiful and aromatic, carried in cluster inflorescences, are tubular in shape and pale pink. Flowering begins in early June and ends at the end of August.
Abelia varieties prefer well-drained, fertile soil in full sun but sheltered from strong winds. Prune in winter, removing some of the basal shoots to make room for new growth, plus the cane ends.
